It is a great celebration for the sport of running in Vienna and Austria: The Prater Hauptallee has been acknowledged by World Athletics Heritage as a global "landmark". Vienna's Mayor Michael Ludwig received the "World Athletics Heritage Plaque" at a ceremony in Vienna's City Hall.

The Olympic-style games will feature athletes from around the country competing in 50 different sports at venues throughout San Diego - SAN DIEGO – The California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), a non-profit organization committed to promoting sport and physical fitness among fire responders, is thrilled to announce this year’s US Police & Fire Championships presented by BioOne, happening Saturday, June 11 through Sunday, June 19 at various venues. The games will feature athletes competing in 50 sports across 35 venues in the greater San Diego County including archery, baseball, bowling, golf, dodgeball, tennis, water polo, CrossFit®, and more.
“After holding a modified event last year, we are thrilled to be returning to San Diego for our 55th season of the games,” says Larry Collins, President of the California Police Athletic Federation. “The mission of the California Police Athletic Federation is to unite public safety athletes and provide them with the ultimate in an Olympic-style athletic experience. The focus is to encourage health and wellness among all public safety personnel and create lifelong memories for the athletes, their families, and the communities they serve.”
The US Police & Fire Championships are an Olympic-style competition for first responders and public safety personnel across the United States. This annual event draws thousands of athletes representing law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, custom and correctional officers, as well as full-time employees (active and retired) of any eligible agency or organization in the capacity of 9-1-1 dispatchers, detention-custodial officers, crime scene investigators, or lifeguards.
These games provide a welcome connection between public safety personnel from varied backgrounds and cultures and offer the opportunity to develop camaraderie and celebrate the human spirit at its very best.
The US Police & Fire Championships are one of three events that the California Police Athletic Federation presents in addition to the bi-annual World Police & Fire Games and the brand-new First Responders Relay which debuted last year.
