Runners Race for Affordable Housing in this Year’s Hood to Coast Relay Race
SRO Housing Corp. in Los Angeles to Receive Proceeds
WHO: The Enterprise-sponsored Running for Shelter relay team, a group of 12 mission-focused runners coming together to raise money for affordable housing by participating in the annual Hood to Coast relay race.
WHAT: Running for Shelter will collectively run the 197 mile Hood to Coast course in support of SRO Housing Corp, a Los Angeles affordable housing developer based on Skid Row. Each member of the team will run an average 15 miles in an effort to bring attention to the very important issue of affordable housing.
WHEN: August 26 – 27, 2010. The team will start running the evening of Friday, August 26 and will cross the finish line approx. 25 hours later.
HERE: The race starts at Oregon’s famed Mt. Hood and will end in the town of Seaside.
BACKGROUND: Enterprise formed the Running for Shelter team 14 years ago and has raised more than $500,000 for nonprofit developers across the country. This year, the funding will go to SRO Housing Corporation for their work to develop and operate housing for formerly- and chronically- homeless individuals located in downtown Los Angeles.
