Monterey Running Club Gives $12,500 in Scholarships
The Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners (WNLR) running club provided $12,500 in college scholarship funding to ten selected Monterey County High School senior runners.

Pacific Association/USATF conducted its annual Long Distance Running Awards Banquet on Feb. 19 to honor the outstanding individual athletes, teams, and volunteers who participated in the four 2011 PA/USATF LDR Grand Prix circuits (Short LDR, Long LDR, Cross Country, and Ultrarunning), and in PA/USATF’s Physically Challenged division. The banquet was capably organized and hosted by the Lake Merritt Joggers & Striders Running Club.
Magdalena Lewy Boulet was the guest speaker the Awards Banquet. Her talk was highlighted in the April-May issue of California Track & Running News. Here are the highlights from the Q & A follow-up.

The Vibram Five Fingers shoe, over the past two years, has shaken up the running footwear industry. Champions of Minimalist shoes see that shoes such as Five Fingers have changed the industry. A more gentle read might be that is partially true, as lightweight shoes are here to stay, and that extremes on both ends have their supporters. In the end, there is really nearly a perfect shoe for every runner's footstrike now.
